How we verifyevery number.
State fees change quietly. Here's exactly how we gather them, check them and tell you when we last looked.

Where the data comes from
Every fee, form name, deadline and rule on a state page comes from that state's Secretary of State or equivalent filing office, its published fee schedule, its revenue department, or the statute itself. Each state page lists the exact sources we used.
How we check it
We compile each state's rules from official sources, then check the key figures (filing fee, report fee and due date, minimum taxes, publication rules) against the state's own pages. Each state page shows the date of its most recent check.
When we can't confirm something
If an official source doesn't clearly state a figure, we mark it as unconfirmed on the page instead of filling in a guess. We'd rather show you a gap than a wrong number.
Provider prices
Formation service prices (Northwest, Bizee and others) come from each provider's own pricing pages on the date shown. Providers change prices and promotions often, so confirm at checkout.
How we review and rank services
Our reviews and rankings weigh four things: what forming an LLC and keeping a registered agent costs over three years, what the cheapest package actually includes, whose address goes on your public filings, and how clearly the provider states its terms. We count three years because the registered agent renews every year, and a $0 sticker price often hides a higher renewal.
We haven't completed paid test orders yet, so our reviews don't make hands-on claims. When we do, we'll add what we saw, with dates. Affiliate commissions never change a ranking, and we include services we don't earn from.
Corrections
Found a fee that changed? Email support@startllcregistration.com with the state and a link to the official source. We'll re-check it against the state and update the page with a new verification date.
